MEET THE TEAM​ 

Josefina Luna is a world citizen born on the Dominican Republic’s north coast. She is a CERO founder and current CFO and Operations Manager. She studied education and worked as a teacher for 15 years before moving to Boston in 1993. From her mother, Josefina learned to plant trees. She felt the satisfaction of having a garden in the yard with abundant food for her family. She learned to love and respect her environment and has been an environmental activist ever since.

FOUNDER, OPERATIONS MANAGER

Lor Holmes leads venture development and capitalization strategies for CERO. She received her Master’s degree in community economic development from Southern New Hampshire University and has led economic development initiatives in Boston for over 20 years. Like all of the CERO worker-owners, Lor shares a passion for sustainable economic development and democratic models of community ownership.

VENTURE DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES, GENERAL MANAGER

Maya Gaul is a creative entrepreneur who engages with sustainability and creation in the urban space. A worker-owner and Sales Manager at CERO Cooperative, she arranges new food waste recycling programs and provides customer service. Her interests range from business development and sustainable design to art, holistic living and permaculture. Maya was a 2017 Chapter Network Fellow for the US Federation of Worker Cooperatives and the Democracy at Work Institute. She graduated from Columbia University in The City of New York with a B.A. in English Literature.

SALES TEAM MANAGER

Rhina Luna fulfills many roles at CERO, including managing databases, hauling logistics and billing. Rhina is particularly passionate about the opportunities CERO creates for members of the Boston communities she grew up in. She believes deeply in CERO’s mission to provide good-paying jobs that empower Bostonians who face an opportunity gap to access meaningful work. She is passionate about environmental justice and emphasizes the importance of providing people with living-wage jobs in the green economy.

DATABASE MANAGER

Antonio Araujo is the newest worker-owner at CERO Co-op. He is a CDL-licensed truck driver in charge of the daily operations for the trucks that carry CERO’s compost totes. He organizes the pick ups for compost hauling and performs general maintenance on CERO's fleet.

Robert Rose is originally from Martha’s Vineyard and spent many years living on Cape Cod. Robert has been driving trucks for 30 years, and is a CDL-certified driver. At CERO, Robert transports food waste to local farms, provides high-quality customer service, and monitors truck operations.

Casey Lynch (she/her) is a life-long learner and teacher and a current Sales Team Leader at CERO. She works to generate and nurture leads into sustainable food waste recycling partnerships. Casey is interested in building up a new economy of businesses like CERO that regenerate our earth and provide good-paying, green jobs for working people.
